SETTLEMENT CONFERENCES (MEDIATIONS)

Judge Urbanski frequently conducts settlement conferences in an attempt to resolve matters pending on the court's docket. If a party desires to schedule a settlement conference, a request should be made to the presiding judge to refer the matter to Judge Urbanski to conduct a settlement conference. Once the referral is made, the settlement conference will be scheduled.   Typically, settlement conferences are set for one full day.  Please let Judge Urbanski's judicial assistant know of the anticipated time needed for the settlement conference when scheduling it.

Once a settlement conference is scheduled, Judge Urbanski enters a standard Settlement Conference Order setting out the procedures to be followed and setting deadlines for each side to provide mediation submissions to Judge Urbanski in advance of the settlement conference.  A copy of the standard Settlement Conference Order may be found on this website.  The Order requires persons with authority to settle the case be physically present at the settlement conference to resolve the case without the need to confer with others not present.

Please see the Articles portion of this website for further information regarding Judge Urbanski's expectations of counsel and the parties at a settlement conference.
