Legitimate court summons are delivered ONLY by U.S. Postal Service mail.
Red flags that indicate a scam:
- Any summons received by email, text, or social media
- Demands for immediate payment or personal information
- Threats of arrest, fines, or other consequences if you don't respond immediately
- Links or attachments asking you to "verify" information or "view" documents
If you receive a suspicious message:
- Do NOT click any links or download attachments
- Do NOT provide personal or financial information
- Do NOT call phone numbers provided in the message
- Contact our office directly using the verified phone number on our official website to confirm whether any legitimate court action exists.
If you believe you have been targeted by this scam, report it to the FTC at ReportFraud.ftc.gov and your local law enforcement.
